I\u00a0have lived\u00a0in Shanghai for 5 years, but I would never finish discovering new places.
\nThat was the case during a bike tour organized by Culture Shock<\/a>. It was\u00a0Celine who told me about\u00a0 their\u00a0bike\u00a0tour\u00a0and she offered me to participate with other bloggers.
\nWe all met on\u00a0Sunday morning at 9 am in a caf\u00e9.\u00a0C\u00e9line and Fabrice were\u00a0our guides and there\u00a0were\u00a0four of us. Gosia<\/a>,\u00a0Jennifer<\/a>,\u00a0Yannick<\/a>\u00a0and me.\u00a0After a quick breakfast we took\u00a0our beautiful vintage bikes and started our\u00a0ride to find out more about this city that we don’t know so well.<\/p>\n

\n<\/a>We started in Fuxing park. My favorite park in Shanghai.<\/p>\n

\nIt\u00a0was\u00a0Sunday morning, but there were\u00a0already many people. We could hear music from the outdoor karaoke all around the park.\u00a0Chinese people love to sing. 2 women came and\u00a0ask us to sing along with them.\u00a0I hate singing so I was grateful to\u00a0C\u00e9line who took the\u00a0microphone and sang the Chinese version of \u00ab\u00a0Are you sleeping?<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0. They were\u00a0absolutely delighted!

\nWe took\u00a0back\u00a0our bikes and went to a little place on the street. Time for a delicious\u00a0Chinese\u00a0breakfast. They\u00a0served us fried\u00a0dough stick, savory pancakes with sesame, filled buns… and other pastries. It\u00a0was\u00a0nice and\u00a0satisfying!<\/p>\n

After this big meal,\u00a0we went\u00a0to visit a Buddhist temple<\/strong>. I knew there were\u00a0some in Shanghai but I have never taken the time\u00a0to visit any of them. Be among the monks and Buddha statues surrounded by buildings and skyscrapers was a\u00a0very\u00a0interesting experience. I really enjoyed\u00a0\u00a0that moment of contemplation and serenity.

\nThe tour was\u00a0not over yet. We still had to visit the old town<\/strong>. Not the brand new and restored for tourists that I found super kitsch and disappointing when I visited Shanghai 5 years ago\u00a0but\u00a0the real old town with small streets and big mess all around. You\u00a0must know them very well if you don’t want to get lost.
\nClothes were drying\u00a0clinging to anything that can be used as dryer, even electrical cable… and people\u00a0who live there\u00a0were welcoming us with big smile and friendly \u00ab\u00a0Nihao\u00a0\u00bb, the Chinese word to say \u00ab\u00a0Hello.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n

\nAround 1:00 pm, the tour ended. We went back to the caf\u00e9 where we started\u00a0to bring back our bikes. I think we all had a great time\u00a0and were\u00a0delighted with the discoveries we made.
\nCeline told me that this\u00a0tour is\u00a0different from the\u00a0usual touristic tour because they really want \u00a0to discover\u00a0Chinese culture and\u00a0have a real insight on Shanghai<\/strong>. Well done!<\/p>\n
